Will I be covered in case of a fire due to a gas leak from my gas heating tank? Are there any special conditions if I have a gas tank in my property for heating purposes?

In case of a gas leak fire, the insured is covered from the results and damages caused from a fire, if Fire is included in your policy as an insured danger. In order for this peril to be included in your policy, there are certain conditions that need to apply when we are requested to take the risk to insure your property, when a gas tank is located in the property in question and this gas tank can hold over a certain gas capacity.  More specifically, in case of GAS Heating, any tank with storage quantity of 500L or more must meet these specific requirements:

a) the tank must be protected by an outer metallic protection cage which must be kept locked at all times,

b) it must be examined from an authorised Engineer and an appropriate Certification must be submitted in advance, and

c) a maintenance log must be kept and updated every 2 years from authorised personnel and this log is to be acquired upon renewal of the policy in advance.
