Unfortunately, insurance fraud happens. For example, someone may have Third Party Liability cover only and have serious and/or costly repairs that are needed for which they cannot claim from their current insurers or another Third Party. What can happen is that they increase their cover to Comprehensive and then submit a claim for what was pre-existing damage. To protect our customers and maintain our lower premiums we inspect the vehicles to confirm that there is no pre-existing damage before we accept cover. If there is any pre-exiting damage we will confirm the areas of damage with you and this will be documented on the proposal form.
Why do you inspect vehicles when insuring them for own damages?
